LJUBLJANA, Nov 20 (Hina) - Additional tests run in Bern, Switzerland, confirmed a cow raised in the upper Savinska Valley, 40 km from Ljubljana, was indeed infected with mad cow disease (BSE), Slovenia's veterinary administration said
on Tuesday. The Agriculture Ministry continues to assure domestic customers that despite the first case of BSE in SLovenia, the beef on the market is completely healthy and that cattle breeding and the sale of meat is under strict control. There is no major drop in demand on the domestic market for the time being. Slovenia is hopeful the countries which banned the import of Slovene meat in the wake of the BSE scare will accept the argument that the first case has been discovered owing to rigorous and timely control.(hina) ha
