ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - The Environmental Protection and Zoning Ministry on Tuesday set up an expert body which should draw up a sustainable development programme for rural areas, given that Croatia has excellent prerequisites for the
development of ecoagriculture, but these advantages have not been adequately used. This body needs to provide requirements for a regular food supply at reasonable prices, the maintaining of balance between urban and rural areas, increasing agricultural production and an adequate usage of natural resources while protecting the environment, the ministry reported. The ministry reminded it has started with the "Croatia - a country which does not produce genetically modified food" campaign, in order to promote Croatia as a "GMO - free country" which offers preserved nature and healthy food on the European market.(hina) np sb
