ATHENS, Nov 12 (Hina) - Greece will be the first European Union country to ratify the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Croatia and the EU, Greek parliamentary speaker Apostolos Kaklamanis said Monday after talks with
Croatian counterpart Zlatko Tomcic. "This is good news for Croatia", said Tomcic, who arrived in Greece at the head of a Croatian delegation on Sunday. Sources from the Croatian delegation said the ratification could happen next spring. After Prime Minister Ivica Racan signed the Stabilisation and Association Agreement last month, the Croatian parliamentary delegation is lobbying their EU colleagues for the ratification of the Agreement. It is expected that ratification process could last up to two years. After Kaklamanis, the Croatian delegation will meet Greek President Konstantinos Stephanopoulos and the presidents of Greece's parliamentary benches.(hina) np
