ROME, Nov 1 (Hina/AR) - The control of trucks coming to the Italian port of Ancona on ferries from Croatia and Greece has been stepped up starting Thursday. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, Italy's secret service has
notified the police about possible suicide terrorist attacks with trucks. On Wednesday police stepped up surveillance on motorways due to suspicion that trucks loaded with explosive might blow up tunnels, which is causing long lines on motorways, especially on the Bologna-Florence route. Control in Ancona has been intensified following arrivals on several occasions in the past of ferries from Split, Croatia with trucks carrying weaponry from Bosnia. Three ferries from Split arrived in Ancona today, and as many will sail in tomorrow. A ferry from Montenegro and several from Greece are scheduled to arrive on Friday too.
