RULING FIVE-PARTY COALITION TO TACKLE INTERNAL RELATIONS FRIDAY

ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - The only certain thing before Friday's meeting of the ruling coalition's five parties is that their leaders expect a thorough debate on inter-party relations and the government's performance. It has, however, been impossible to find out if they have any concrete proposals on the matter, as the president of the Social Democrats (SDP), Prime Minister Ivica Racan, has recently urged. Racan said on Monday he would ask the coalition partners to state if they would stop with mutual quarrels and if they were willing to act in unison in the second part of the government's mandate. The PM does not object to a government reshuffle, but has appealed for concrete proposals. According to Jozo Rados, the acting president of the Social Liberals (HSLS), a thorough debate on the coalition's work and a systematic evaluation of what has been achieved is welcome as it would help in finding concrete
According to Jozo Rados, the acting president of the Social Liberals (HSLS), a thorough debate on the coalition's work and a systematic evaluation of what has been achieved is welcome as it would help in finding concrete proposals for the reshuffle. Rados has said the HSLS would accept any sensible and argument-based reshuffle. The Liberal Party (LS) objects to personnel changes supposed to satisfy the interests of a particular party, president Zlatko Kramaric has said. He maintains the reshuffle should be based on a clear concept which would make it possible to carry out all the reforms that were promised before the January 2000 election. Kramaric says his party has failed to exercise all of its rights stemming from a post-election coalition agreement. He has called on equal treatment for all of the coalition parties. The Croatian People's Party (HNS) will take a final stance regarding Racan's proposal following a party conference on Saturday. The president of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS), Zlatko Tomcic, urged a government reshuffle some ten days ago, requesting not only the replacement of some ministers but training the whole executive authority to be able to tackle every challenge anytime.
