ZAGREB, Oct 9 (Hina) - Former senior Yugoslav officials mentioned
in the indictment against Slobodan Milosevic for crimes committed
in Croatia are under investigation, a spokesperson for the UN war
crimes tribunal at The Hague said on Tuesday.
"Those who are alive are under investigation," Florence Hartmann,
the spokeswoman for the prosecutor of the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), told Hina over the phone
when asked if the prosecutor would seek pressing charges against
some 15 persons mentioned in the Milosevic indictment.
These are Borislav Jovic and Branko Kostic, members of ex-
Yugoslavia's federal presidency, Veljko Kadijevic, former federal
defence minister, Blagoje Adzic, former military chief-of-staff,
Jovica Stanisic, former head of Serbia's state security service,
Franko Simatovic, former head of special operations, Tomislav
Simovic, Serbia's former defence minister, Serb Radical Party
leader Vojislav Seselj, former Montenegrin President Momir
Bulatovic, Aleksandar Vasiljevic, chief of counter-intelligence
at the former federal army JNA, and Milan Babic, Milan Martic, and
Goran Hadzic, former Serb Croat leaders.
The indictment against Yugoslavia's former head of state also
mentions Zeljko Raznjatovic Arkan and Radovan Stojicic Badzo, both
killed under as yet undetermined circumstances.
The ICTY indictment says the aforementioned persons had joined
forces with Milosevic in a "joint criminal enterprise", the aim of
which was the persecution of the Croat and other non-Serb
population from one third of Croatian territory which, under
Milosevic's plan, was to become part of a new Serb-dominated
state.
