TENNESSEE BUS HIJACKING SUSPECT WAS CROATIAN WAR VETERAN

SLAVONSKI BROD, Oct 4 (Hina) - The Croat suspected of attacking a bus driver in Tennessee on Wednesday morning and causing the death of six people was a Croatian war veteran, the department for war veterans in Slavonski Brod confirmed on Thursday. The man in question, 29-year-old Damir Igric, was a resident of the eastern Croatian town. He was in the 108 Slavonski Brod Brigade from July 1 to Dec. 31, 1991, when he joined the Third Guard Brigade, remaining a member until Jan. 11, 1993. Following a U.S. police request, the Croatian Interior Ministry is inspecting if the passport found on the hijacker, who was killed when the bus overturned, and bearing the name Damir Igric, is valid. Only the comparison of the attacker's and Igric's fingerprints will establish if they are the same person.(hina) ha sb
