ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - The secretariat of the largest Croatian opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), on Wednesday forwarded an open letter to the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) director, Mirko Galic, requiring

The television show's editor, Denis Latin, said in a television's news programme Tuesday night that the results of a television referendum about whether the Croatian judiciary should process all war crimes, independent of who committed them, were the best comment on the HDZ's claims the show was "based on scandalous views about the Croatian Homeland Defence War". ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - The secretariat of the largest Croatian
opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), on
Wednesday forwarded an open letter to the Croatian Radio and
Television (HRT) director, Mirko Galic, requiring that reactions
of viewers to the "Latinica" show, aired Monday night, be made
public.
The television show's editor, Denis Latin, said in a television's
news programme Tuesday night that the results of a television
referendum about whether the Croatian judiciary should process all
war crimes, independent of who committed them, were the best
comment on the HDZ's claims the show was "based on scandalous views
about the Croatian Homeland Defence War".
Out of 7,425 telephone calls to the television station, 75 percent
of viewers answered positively in reply to the referendum question,
Latin said, adding that one of the most frequent comments to the
show was the question why he allowed so much air time to HDZ deputy
president, Maja Freundlich.
The HDZ said in the open letter that the reactions of viewers who
contacted the party on Tuesday and Wednesday were contrary to the
ones Latin had cited.
Since the Croatian Television is a public television financed
directly from the government budget and mandatory subscription, we
demand that the reactions of viewers to the "Latinica" show be made
available to us and the public, the party said.
Bozidar Knezevic's documentary "Storm Over Krajina", on crimes
committed against ethnic Serbs and their property during the 1995
Croatian liberation operation 'Storm', shown in the Croatian
Television (HTV) show 'Latinica' on Monday night, has stirred up
negative reactions, including requests to replace Croatian Radio-
Television (HRT) director Mirko Galic and the author of the show,
Denis Latin.
