ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - The controversial documentary "Oluja nad Krajinom" (Storm Over Krajina) was shown during the Croatian Television show 'Latinica' on Monday evening, the topic of the show being whether the Croatian judiciary
should process all war crimes regardless of their perpetrators. The documentary, made by Bozidar Knezevic, speaks about crimes against Serbs and their property, which, according to witness statements, were committed by Croatian Army members during and after the 1995 liberation operation "Storm". After the showing of the documentary, journalists, politicians and attorneys who were invited to tonight's show discussed the film. ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - The controversial documentary "Oluja nad
Krajinom" (Storm Over Krajina) was shown during the Croatian
Television show 'Latinica' on Monday evening, the topic of the show
being whether the Croatian judiciary should process all war crimes
regardless of their perpetrators.
The documentary, made by Bozidar Knezevic, speaks about crimes
against Serbs and their property, which, according to witness
statements, were committed by Croatian Army members during and
after the 1995 liberation operation "Storm".
After the showing of the documentary, journalists, politicians and
attorneys who were invited to tonight's show discussed the film.
This summer some media speculated that the film, produced by the
independent production company Factum, would not be shown on
Croatian Television (HTV) at all. Factum programme director Nenad
Puhovski then said that "some forces on HTV have launched a campaign
against the film, probably estimating this is the way to cover up
the fact that they have not investigated any similar topic."
An HTV spokesman replied immediately saying the film would be shown
in late August or early September, after which a panel discussion
would be held. "The editors have estimated that due to the
sensitivity of the topic the film cannot be shown without a
discussion," spokesman Kresimir Macan said.
According to a viewer poll in tonight's Latinica, 74% viewers
believe the Croatian judiciary should prosecute all crimes
regardless of their perpetrators, while the other 26% think it
should not.
