ZAGREB/BJELOVAR, Sept 21 (Hina) - A full investigation has been launched Friday into the war-crimes involvement of five Virovitica citizens, for whom a month-long detention has been ordered by a Bjelovar County investigative judge.
County prosecutor Branka Merzic told Hina some ten witnesses are to be deposed. The five suspects - Zeljko Iharos (38), Ivan Vrban (51), Antun Fereza (65), Nikola Teskera (39) and Vlatko Stubicar (32) - are accused of killing a Virovitica Serb, Bogdan Mudrinic, in December of 1991. Also accused are Andjelko Kasaj (47) and Luka Perak (48), who are currently being treated at a Bjelovar hospital. During preliminary investigation, the police established Military Police, under Iharos' orders, arrested Mudrinic on December 11, 1991, and took him to the city barracks, where he was questioned and beaten.
