FORMER YUGOSLAV DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER ARRESTED FOR THEFT

BELGRADE, Sept 16 (Hina) - A former Yugoslav prime minister, Serbian culture minister and senior official of former President Slobodan Milosevic's Socialist Party has been arrested for theft, Belgrade media said on Sunday. Zeljko Simic was arrested on Saturday after a search of his flat produced several stolen objects, including a gold Rolex watch, jewellery, paintings, and cigarette cases, Glas daily said. This was confirmed by Interior Ministry sources on Belgrade's B-92 radio station. Simic was taken to an investigating judge earlier today. As deputy PM, he was the first Yugoslav official to visit Zagreb during negotiations on the exchange of captured soldiers in 1992. Simic was also the manager of the Belgrade National Theatre until last October's change of authority.(hina) ha
