MOSTAR MOSTAR, Sept 10 (Hina) - The identification of remains of civilians killed by the Bosnian Serb army at the beginning of the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1992 started at a cemetery in the southern town of Mostar on Monday. The
bodies of 15 civilians were exhumed from a pit between the villages of Lakat and Borci near the Konjic and Nevesinje municipalities, north of Mostar. An unnamed Bosniak, the only one who survived the execution in Lakat in 1992, said the bodies of the victims, mostly Muslims, but probably Croats as well, had been thrown into a pit near the village. The president of the Association of missing and imprisoned persons
in Neretva-Herzegovina Canton, Zdravko Mikulic, said a significant
number of unidentified bodies had been buried at the cemetery.
The association will send the International commission for missing
and imprisoned persons a proposal for establishing a data basis on
missing persons and their families. The association is still
looking for 100 Croats from the canton who were either killed,
imprisoned or went missing during the war in the country.
