ZAGREB, Sept 1 (Hina) - Several opposition parties have voiced
their opposition to a government's decision to change the dates of
state holidays.
The president of the Croatian Democratic Union, Ivo Sanader, said
"it is not good for a normal and mature democratic country such as
Croatia that as the government changes so does everything in the
country: the Constitution, state holidays, street names, and
tomorrow, the flag and the national anthem will change".
"This is simply not good for political culture, citizens' feeling

He stressed the ruling coalition has no good reasons for the changes
which will bring harm Croatia and its reputation abroad.
The Croatian Christian Democratic Union also voiced opposition to
the introduction of a new state holiday on October 8 as being the new
Independence Day, holding that the ruling coalition is introducing
a trend of revanshism and constant changes in Croatia's political
life, to the detriment of citizens themselves.
