OSIJEK, Aug 31 (Hina) - Two boats with scientists from nine Danube basin countries will be taking and analysing water and sediment samples from the Danube bed in the area of Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srijem counties on Friday and
Saturday. The joint project, which is part of a convention on the protection of the Danube river and a wider project called "Joint Danube Survey", is implemented along the entire Danube, from Germany to the Black Sea. The purpose of the project, which lasts between mid-August and September 20, is to collect data on the quality of water and identify the sources of pollution in line with European Union guidelines. The two boats, which are equipped with adequate laboratories, will be taking samples on 98 measuring stations on the Danube and its tributaries.
