This year, 31 vessels took part in the 22.5-kilometre long regatta
which starts under a bridge across the Neretva in the town of
Metkovic and finishes in the seaport of Ploce, southern Croatia.
The crews of the boats consist of ten oarsmen, one cox and one
drummer.
This year's regatta attracted over 50,000 local inhabitants and
guests who came in the valley to see the race, held under Croatian
President Stjepan Mesic's auspices.
