He recalled the importance of the Dubrovnik Republic (1272-1808), which he said used its diplomatic skills to write important pages of European history, especially through ties with the Ottoman Empire. "Turkey and Croatia have to continue developing good cultural and diplomatic ties, and we also hope for a better economic cooperation," President Mesic said.
