MOSTAR, May 30
(Hina) - Education ministers in the Croat-majority
cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have asked the
international community's High Representative to Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Valentin Inzko, to abolish the ministry of education and
science at the federation's level, citing a ruling of that entity's
Constitutional Court that education and culture fell exclusively under
the jurisdiction of the ten cantons in the Croat-Muslim entity.
The ministers from the four predominantly Croat cantons today boycotted a meeting convened by the federation's education minister Damir Masic and called on Inzko to see to it that the federal Constitutional Court's ruling of last November be enforced.
The Croat ministers say that the deadline for the annulment of the federal education ministry expired on 6 May.
