"It is good that Mr. Bajic has provided a detailed report. It is our task now to reassure European partners that we are conducting reforms," Josipovic said during his second day in Finland on Wednesday.
He said that it was no surprise that European partners were now inquiring about the prosecution of war crimes, as in the past high standards had not been applied in that field for some time.
"Some time ago we reformed our judiciary, educated our judges and prosecutors and opened cooperation with neighbouring countries in war crimes prosecution," Josipovic said, adding that additional information sent to Brussels would convince European partners about Croatia's progress in that field.
He reiterated that reforms were undertaken primarily for the benefit of Croatia and its citizens and after that for the aim of joining the EU.
Croatia's Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Gordan Jandrokovic said on Monday that earlier in the day the Croatian government had provided the European Commission with additional information and explanations which Brussels had requested last week in connection with the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights negotiating area (No. 23) within Croatia's European Union membership talks.
On the second and last day of his stay in Finland, Josipovic visited Turku, a medieval city on the southwest coast at the mouth of the Aura River. Turku is one of this year's three European Capitals of Culture.
During his visit to Turku, Josipovic was presented with a 3D image, a spatial projection of one of his compositions. The 3D picture measuring 100 microns and 75 centimetres was made by author Nikolai Sai Chekurov with the help of an electronic microscope.
