MACEDONIA: CEASEFIRE RESPECTED

SKOPJE, July 10 (Hina) - A ceasefire in Macedonia's crisis areas has not been violated, despite the Albanian guerrilla provocation, which makes political dialogue easier, spokesman of the crisis management body Tihomir Ilievski said Tuesday. Ilievski announced the arrival of a greater number of foreign observers who will monitor the situation in the region because "the situation in the Tetovo region is alarming and urgent measures are necessary". He also confirmed that road blocks had been removed from the Tetovo-Jazince road, after yesterday's talks between NATO representatives and Albanian guerrillas, adding, however, Albanian armed groups were still present in occupied Macedonian villages. Macedonian Radio and Television reported on last night's shooting saying that armed Albanians were robbing Macedonian houses and harassing and kidnapping civilians.
