ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina)- A major problem joint stock companies in
Croatia are faced with is the lack of competent management as there
are not enough managers with adequate knowledge of their
organisation and operation.

corporation management council, told a panel in Zagreb it was
necessary to introduce training schemes for managers and their
supervisors in order to raise their level of expertise.
As corporation management in the world is advancing, Croatia must
systematically and continually follow any legal changes in this
area, especially the ones in the EU.
Josko Barbic, a professor at Zagreb Law Faculty, thinks the habit of
appointing state and local officials to corporate supervisory
boards is inadmissible as they cannot dedicate themselves entirely
to problems their companies are facing. Companies in Croatia which
are owned by foreigners and which have professionals on their
supervisory boards are more successful, he added.
