ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivica Racan said on Tuesday the state planned on retaining a controlling interest in Croatian Telecom (HT) after an agreement on the sale of 16 percent of HT shares to Deutsche Telekom. He voiced
satisfaction with the placement on Monday of 250 million in euro-bonds on the international market which, he said, pointed to Croatia's improved credit and overall rating. "This should be the last such debt this year," said the PM. A letter of intent on the sale of 16 percent of HT shares for EUR500 million, whereby Deutsche Telekom will acquire a 51 percent interest in the HT, will be signed on July 12. A formal agreement should be signed before the autumn. The whole deal requires the adoption of amendments to the HT Privatisation Act. Racan announced the amendments would be put on parliament's agenda before the summer recess.(hina) ha sb
