ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - Chief State Prosecutor Radovan Ortynski on Tuesday dismissed newspaper headlines saying First Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic had requested the State Prosecutor's Office to discontinue proceedings initiated
on the basis of police charges against Croatia's former finance minister Borislav Skergo and other suspects charged with damaging the budget by 215 million kuna in the first stage of the privatisation of Croatian Telecom. Neither Granic nor any other government official requested the State Prosecutor's Office or its county and municipal offices in Zagreb to make any decision, nor were any inquiries made or discussions conducted regarding these proceedings by government officials, Ortynski said in a statement.(hina) sb rml
