VRPOLJE/POZEGA, July 2 (Hina) - A protest staged by peasants from four eastern Croatian counties Slavonski Brod-Posavina, Pozega-Slavonia, Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srijem counties, ended at 15.00 hours Monday. Dissatisfied with the
price of wheat of one kuna per kilogram offered by the buyers, the farmers blocked all traffic with tractors and other machinery today from 10AM to 3PM. A representative of Slavonia and Baranja at the wheat sale negotiation commission, Ivan Kotarac, who organised the protest, said he had not even been invited to attend negotiations with the buyers, stressing he was a member of the Croatian Peasants' Party's Commission for negotiations with the buyers on the wheat purchase. According to him, 80 percent of Croatia's wheat is being sowed in Slavonia and negotiations on the price cannot be conducted without representatives from Slavonia.(hina) it
