RIJEKA, June 19 (Hina) - The Croatian Supreme Court ordered trial proceedings against Fikret Abdic, indicted of war crimes, to be handled by the Karlovac County Court, Abdic's attorney Dusko Tisma said today, and Rijeka County Court
president Slavko Petric confirmed. The Rijeka court was competent for the case on the basis of Abdic's residence n Volosko, near Rijeka. Trial Chamber president Djurdja Jovanic requested the case transfer due to the great number of cases the trial chamber is dealing with and the complex cases the entire court is dealing with. The proceedings against Abdic, who the prosecutor in Bihac back in 1995 indicted for war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war, will take place in Karlovac for easier and more efficient process, and because of the proximity of Bihac, Velika Kladusa, Buzim, Cazin and other places from where witnesses will be arriving.
