RIJEKA, June 7 (Hina) - A Rijeka County Court chamber with judge Ante Gatara at the helm today set detention to Fikret Abdic, indicted of war crimes against civilians and war prisoners, County Court president Slavko Petric told
reporters. Apprehension will be ordered, and if this does not work, a warrant for Abdic's arrest will be issued, Petric said. Detention was set based on the gravity of circumstances under which the crimes he is accused of were committed, that is, acts connected to the killing of more than 400 civilians in the region of Bihac, Cazin, Buzim and Velika Kladusa in west Bosnia in 1993 and 1994. The indictment against Abdic was issued by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Bihac in 1995. The proceedings will be conducted in Croatian courts according to a bilateral agreement on legal assistance in criminal cases.
