ZADAR FAIL ZADAR, June 12 (Hina) - Talks of five parties forming a coalition in the Zadar County failed because of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), the Croatian People's Party (HNS) claims, while the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) claims whether the talks will continue depends on the HSLS. President of the county chapter of the SDP, Romano Mestrovic, told a news conference that it was already agreed that the SDP would appoint the county prefect, but the HSLS said it should get to appoint the county secretary, which was not accepted. The SDP believes that talks with the HSLS would continue nonetheless, while the HNS holds the HSLS is to be blamed for their failure. HNS chief candidate for the Zadar city local self-government and candidate for mayor, Ivica Mastruko, said he expected his list of candidates to win two to three percent more votes at repeated elections than in the local elections which were annulled.(hina) lml
