PRISTINA, June 8 (Hina) - The international peace forces in Kosovo (KFOR) have launched an operation alongside the Kosovo-Macedonia border to prevent the illegal passage of extremists and weapons, deputy KFOR commander General
Filiberto Cechi said on Friday. As part of the "Eagle 1" operation KFOR has deployed additional forces along the Kosovo-Macedonia border and will also increase military presence throughout the southern Yugoslav province, said Cechi. Their task is to reduce chances for extremist movements towards Macedonia or within Kosovo, he said. The KFOR efforts are yielding the first results and the extremists will feel the increased pressure, he added. They are wrong if they think they can use Kosovo as the headquarters for their operations in neighbouring Macedonia, Cechi stressed.(hina) ha
