BELGRADE, June 8 (Hina) - Serbia's Justice Minister Vladan Batic contacted the Croatian and Hungarian ministries of justice on Friday requesting that the Croatian judiciary reconsider the criminal accountability of Emir Sisic and
abandon a request for his extradition. Sisic was sentenced in absentia by Croatia's Varazdin County Court to 20 years imprisonment for shooting down a European Union monitoring mission helicopter on Croatian territory in January 1992. He is currently imprisoned in Hungary, which is deciding on Croatia's request for his extradition. Serbia's Justice Ministry has the entire documentation concerning the Sisic case, Batic said in a statement, stressing said documentation "excludes Emir Sisic from all accountability."
