ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - According to the Labour Force Questionnaire the unemployment rate in Croatia for last year was 17 percent, while the Employment Bureau registered 21.3 percent. Director of the State Bureau of Statistics, Ivan
Rusan, explained that the differences in the data were the result of different methods, that is, varying definitions of the employed and unemployed. He said it was significant that by administrative data, the unemployment rate in the past six months stabilised. The Questionnaire says out of the total 4,370,000 residents of Croatia, 3.7 million are able to work, including the 1,890,000 who are working, while 1.81 million people are inactive (pensioners, pupils, students, housewives, etc.) Of the total population, 1,570,000 were employed, and 322,000 were unemployed. The Employment Bureau registered 363,575 unemployed, 42,000 more people than the Questionnaire.(hina) lml sb
