HINA Zagreb, May 21, 2001OFFICIAL RESULTS FOR ZAGREB CITY ASSEMBLY ELECTIONZAGREB, May 21 (Hina) - The official results of yesterday's local elections for the Zagreb City Council came in from the General Electoral Commission today
afternoon. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) received the most votes, with 27.07 percent or 73,560 votes; followed by the Croatian Democratic Union/Croatian Christian Democratic Union/Croatian Party of Rights (HDZ-HKDU-HSP) coalition which won 19.91 percent, or 54,100 votes. The Croatian People's Party (HNS) follows with 17.54 percent and 47,667 votes, and the Miroslav Tudjman independent list with 7.64 percent or 20,761 votes. Out of the total 694,586 voters in Zagreb, 276,359 voters came to the polls Sunday, making up 39.79 percent. A total of 4,550 invalid ballots were counted, or 1.65 percent.
