Albanian part.
Several thousand protesters took to the streets to voice their
disagreement with the arrival of the Yugoslav president. The rally
was organised by the Independent Union of Pristina University
Students.
However, official sources and those of the U.N. civil
administration in Kosovo did not have any information on
Kostunica's visit.
The protesters also condemned the idea to build a wall with a
barbed-wire frame which would split Kosovska Mitrovica into a Serb
and an Albanian part, presented a week ago in the Albanian-language
Kosovo paper "Koha Ditore".
The protesters called on international and local factors in Kosovo
to explain who had invited Kostunica and in which capacity he was
visiting Kosovo and wondered if was coming to lay the foundation
stone for walls which would divide Kosovo.
The organisers of the Pristina rally called on all residents to take
to the streets on Sunday, when Kostunica will visit the city, and
form a human barrier to prevent his arrival.
Similar protests were organised today in Kosovska Mitrovica and
Gnjilane as well.
