BELGRADE, May 31 (Hina) - Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic has
assessed that it is unreal to expect from Yugoslavia to define any
deadline for the potential extradition of ICTY indictees in order
to fulfil conditions for the participation of the United States in a
donors' conference due for late June.
Djindjic announced yet another attempt of Yugoslav delay to hand-
over of war criminals to the Hague-based International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), at a news conference in
Belgrade on Thursday.
For this Serbian top official, Yugoslavia's adoption of a law on the
cooperation with the Tribunal should be treated as "great
progress", and he added that such a law would put the FRY (the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) at the same footing with Bosnia-
Herzegovina and Croatia" as regards the cooperation with the ICTY.
"Any other condition which the United States sets for its
participation in the fund-raising conference is additional
condition the fulfilment of which is unreal," Djindjic said.
However, the Serbian PM hopes that the international community will
show understanding for Belgrade's stand and is also optimistic
about the success in the completion of a stand-by arrangement with
the IMF and about the negotiations with the Paris Club.
Djindjic said means from the donors' conference "cannot cover even
what was demolished during the NATO air strikes."
