SARAJEVO, May 29 (Hina) - The mandate or number of members of the Stabilisation Forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina will not be changed in a way as to endanger peace and stability in the country, SFOR spokesman Andrew Coxhead said in
Sarajevo today. Commenting on spreading rumours about a decrease in SFOR manpower, Coxhead told reporters this would probably occur, but would not in any way affect the peace process. There are no plans for changing the SFOR mandate or for decreasing members to the extent as to bring our current tasks into question, he said. SFOR commanding officer, US General Michael Dodson, told Sarajevo media last week that a decrease in SFOR members could be up to 15 percent, but this would not endanger the troops' action capabilities. There are some estimates that the number of SFOR members could be reduced from the present 20,000 to 18,000.(hina) lml sb
