ZAGREB, May 25 (Hina) - Croatia's Premier Ivica Racan announced that if he could not further prevent the leak of misinformation from circles close to leaders of six parties which make up the ruling coalition, he would accept the
opinion that it would be better for them to break up. At our first next meeting I will raise the question about the relations and conduct inside the six-party coalition, Racan was quoted as saying in Saturday's issue of the "Vecernji List" daily. If we cannot reach more responsible conduct and if I cannot prevent the leak of misinformation, I shall accept the view that it is better for us to break up, the president of the Social Democrats (SDP) added. Otherwise I will hold all kinds of talks and even working meetings in the presence of reporters. This can prevent the circulation of misinformation, Racan maintains. ZAGREB, May 25 (Hina) - Croatia's Premier Ivica Racan announced
that if he could not further prevent the leak of misinformation from
circles close to leaders of six parties which make up the ruling
coalition, he would accept the opinion that it would be better for
them to break up.
At our first next meeting I will raise the question about the
relations and conduct inside the six-party coalition, Racan was
quoted as saying in Saturday's issue of the "Vecernji List" daily.
If we cannot reach more responsible conduct and if I cannot prevent
the leak of misinformation, I shall accept the view that it is
better for us to break up, the president of the Social Democrats
(SDP) added.
Otherwise I will hold all kinds of talks and even working meetings
in the presence of reporters. This can prevent the circulation of
misinformation, Racan maintains.
Commenting on negotiations on agreements about the set-up local
authorities after the May 20 elections, he expressed
dissatisfaction that the very beginning of the negotiations was
marked by attempts to plant misinformation.
During a few meetings the six parties' bosses discussed how to
strengthen the ruling coalition, Racan said.
He stressed that he abode by the principle of the constitution of
authorities in compliance with election results and this should be
applied in Zagreb and elsewhere. Thus the SDP, with the highest
percent of mustered votes in Zagreb, should have the first man in
Zagreb and all other issues can be considered at our negotiations
with the HNS (Croatian People's Party which was the only other party
from the ruling coalition to get seats in the Zagreb assembly), he
explained.
