PRAGUE/ZAGREB, May 19 (Hina) - Croatia joined the Bologna Declaration, the process of harmonisation of European institutions of higher education, at a conference of European ministers of science, education and sports in Prague on
Saturday. One of the basic principles of the Bologna Declaration is the mobility of professors and students, i.e. the flexibility of institutions of higher education. Under the Declaration, the student chooses his curriculum and university studies on his own. Apart from Croatia, the Declaration was today joined also by Cyprus and Turkey, and it now has 32 members. The Prague conference, which is held on May 18-19, is also attended by European chancellors and about 30 European experts on higher education. institutions of higher education.

The Bologna Declaration is a joint document signed by 29 European
ministers on June 19, 1999. Under the declaration, European
institutions of higher education should by 2010 form a system of
recognisable and comparable academic degrees, which will be
achieved by introducing the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
as a means of promotion of the widest form of student exchange.
