PARLIAMENT WRAPS UP THIS WEEK'S SESSION

ZAGREB, May 4 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament wrapped this week's sitting on Friday by debating a series of bills which will be voted on when the session resumes at the end of the month. The agenda included a bill of amendments to the sports law proposing direct financing for associations of disabled athletes. The Croatian Sports Alliance of Disabled Persons, a member of the European Paralympic Committee, has some 10,000 members and actively encourages 3,000 disabled athletes. The benches endorsed a bill of amendments to the Penal Code proposing stricter penalties for illegal crossings of the state border. According to the bill, maximum imprisonment for an illegal crossing of the border should last three years, as against the current one-year penalty. It also envisages a ten-year imprisonment for those who organise illegal border crossings, as against the current penalty of up to three years in prison. Parliament
