Ministry, which cooperates with the Interpol on such cases, Stefic
said.
The attacks did not cause direct financial damage in Croatia but
damage has been caused to the users who were unable to fully use
Internet services, she said.
Hackers attacked the Croatian Internet space on Saturday, April 21.
The main target was HThinet, but some other Croatian Internet
providers were attacked as well. The type of the attacks, which
caused problems in establishing links to the world, was Distributed
Denial of Service (DDOS), which is believed to be one of the
strongest hacker attacks. During a DDOS attack, large quantities of
data are sent from a number of locations in the world to the target,
causing the overloading of routers and preventing the normal flow
of data.
