United Nations Mission spokesman Douglas Coffman said in Sarajevo
on Thursday that politicians, army and police members, as well as
businessmen opposing the policy of the Bosnian Croat National
Assembly (HNS) were being pressured.
We continue to receive complains under which Croat private
companies are demanded to pay up to several hundred thousands of US
dollars in order to enable the HNS functioning. Even small
entrepreneurs, owners of shops, restaurants and hair dressing
salons are exposed to such intimidation, Coffman said.
The spokesman of the NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR) in
Sarajevo, Andrew Coxhead, also confirmed that those opposing the
HNS and the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Bosnia-Herzegovina
were exposed to threats and pressures.
He stressed the SFOR and the entire international community harshly
condemned such behaviour.
