BELGRADE, April 25 (Hina) - Yugoslavia has requested the Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) to reconsider an 11 July 1996 decision whereby the Court proclaimed itself competent for ruling in a genocide lawsuit Bosnia
filed against Yugoslavia. Belgrade newspapers said on Wednesday a reconsideration was necessary as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ceased being either a legal or political successor to the former Yugoslav federation on 1 November 2000, when it was admitted as a member to the United Nations. Yugoslavia sees its admission to the UN as a "decisive factor" invalidated the assumption whereby ICJ's jurisdiction over Yugoslavia was established.(hina) ha sb
