ZAGREB ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - "The Week of Israel" started on Saturday night with an evening of Jewish songs and dances at Zagreb's 'Vidra' theatre. The event was opened by the president of the Zagreb Jewish Community and the
Coordination of Croatian Jewish Communities, Ognjen Kraus. Artists from Croatia and Yugoslavia presented traditional Jewish songs and dances and a medley of modern Jewish songs. The Week of Israel, which lasts until May 5, was organised by the Zagreb Jewish Community, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (AJJDC), the Israeli Embassy from Vienna and several Croatian and Israeli companies, with the assistance of the Croatian Government Office for National Minorities. The event will also include performances by Israeli artists Yair Dalal and Ofer Hatuka and a concert entitled "Croatian Traditional Music in the Jewish Community."
