ZAGREB, April 10 (Hina) - Hungarian Croats want to strengthen their ties with the homeland by establishing an office for autochtonous Croat minorities, which would operate as part of the Croatian government, said Mijo Karagic, head of
a delegation of Hungarian Croats who met Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday. "We have asked the President to help us institutionalise our ties with the homeland through a central office which would be part of the Croatian government," said Karagic, president of the Croat National Self-Government in Hungary. Mesic's advisor on culture and education, Zdravko Jelenovic, said the President's office supported the initiative but did not want to speculate about the possible formal establishment of such an office.
