health services as of July 1, and the application of the basic package of health services is expected for the second half of the year. At the round-table organised by the Alliance of Croatian Independent Unions (SSSH), the minister represented a reform model and announced 14 projects intended to economise expenses in health insurance and promote the quality of health services. The reform should not be brought into question because the current prices of health services are "ridiculously low" and 3,400,000 people (80 percent) are exempt from participation, chairman of the Croatian Physicians' Union, Josip Jelic said. Last year 69 million kuna worth of services have been issued in
primary health care, at the average price of 32 kuna, and 53 million
of services in specialist services at the average price of 37.5
kuna, he said.
