ZAGREB, April 11 (Hina) - Public Works Minister Radimir Cacic said on Wednesday the U.S. Bechtel company fully respected an agreement to employ only Croatian labour in the building of a Zagreb-Split highway, and only experts from
abroad. "There is no doubt as to the import of foreign labour for Bechtel to work on the Zagreb-Split highway," Cacic told Hina. He added one of his first moves upon becoming minister had been to cancel an agreement signed by his predecessor Jure Radic on the possible import of foreign labour. Bechtel spokesman Damir Vucic yesterday refuted media claims alleging the company intended to employ 1,500 labour from Turkey. He said Bechtel would need 1,700 workers at the peak of the works later next year, of whom 1,300-1,500 from Croatia. The rest will comprise experts from Turkey and other countries.(hina) ha
