ZAGREB, April 9 (Hina) - Croatia's Supreme Court on Monday unanimously supported the proposal that a candidate, Ivica Crnic, who is a lawyer in Zagreb, be appointed as the President of this Court. Under the Constitution, the President
of the Supreme Court is appointed and relieved from duty by the Croatian parliament (Sabor) at the proposal of the President of the Republic. Prior to that, the Supreme Court should express its opinion about candidates at its general assembly. The Sabor's judiciary committee will also consider President Stjepan Mesic's proposal about Crnic as the Supreme Court President, at its tomorrow's session. After the committee's decision, all legal and constitutional conditions are met for forwarding this proposal to the parliament to make the final decision on the matter.(hina) sb ms
