ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday resumed its 11th session with a debate on a bill on the management of public cultural institutions, which is aimed at decentralising management of those institutions.
Culture Minister Antun Vujic said the purpose of the bill was to further de-monopolise the process of decision-making, meaning that instead of the Culture Ministry, units of local and regional self-government would in the future appoint heads of community centres or festivals. All parliamentary benches supported the bill assessing it strengthened the position of the founders and owners of cultural institutions and narrowed the Ministry's powers. The Sabor resumed debating about the bill, after which it is to discuss a report on the course of negotiations on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union.(hina) rml
