ZAGREB, April 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Monday received delegations of the Croatian Red Cross (HCK) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which are marking the international Week of the Red
Cross. Mesic has accepted sponsorship of a celebration marking HCK's 123th anniversary, to take place in Osijek on May 8, HCK president Jadranko Crnic said after the meetings. Croatia's Red Cross has 40,000 members. ICRC president Jakob Kellenberger said the talks with Mesic tackled the general situation in the region and humanitarian activities in Croatia. Kellenberger expressed satisfaction with cooperation with Croatia in the search for persons who went missing in the period between 1991 and 1992 and in dealing with the problem of demining and mine victims.(hina) sb rml
