War, adopted at the association's fourth convention, held in Zagreb

Croatia's Homeland War is the only war in the history of wars which
has no generally known heroes, which is the greatest humiliation of
all for war veterans. Due to the non-functioning of HDZ's (Croatian
Democratic Union) administration and the intentional destruction
of war documents, the exact number of actual war veterans is not
known, the Statement reads.
War profiteers, deserters and fake Homeland War legends have become
privileged and are still being glorified, which is the gravest act
of criminalisation of the war, the association says, accusing the
former authority of wrong military and political moves in 1991,
which brought genocide and destruction upon Croatia, something
that "could and should have been avoided."
After January 3, 2000, the same people, who can bring no positive
changes or a more just situation, have remained in power on many
levels, the association says, accusing the incumbent authorities
of lacking determination.
The Homeland War was a defensive, liberation and just war for an
independent Croatian state and the aggressors - Serbia, Montenegro
and the JNA - waged a war of conquest and not, as some would like, a
civil war, the Statement concludes.
The convention was attended by Croatian War Veterans' Minister
Ivica Pancic.
