PETRINJA, March 20 (Hina) - Representatives of the Austrian Embassy in Zagreb handed over 87 hand metal detectors to Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) officials in Sisak on Tuesday. Mine removal experts demonstrated the operation of
the donated equipment in Seliste outside Petrinja, the area which has been cleaned of 5,000 mines and other explosive devices. The Austrian government's donation is worth 3.3 million shillings, Austrian Ambassador Hans G. Knitel told reporters. The latest donation raises the number of hand metal detectors in Croatia by one third, HCR director Damir Gorseta said. Dijana Plestina, an advisor to Croatia's foreign minister on anti-mine activities, told reporters the Austrian donation was very important and valuable and Croatia expected more such assistance.(hina) rml
