ZAGREB CAR EXPLOSION CAUSED BY BOMB PLANTED IN CONTAINER

ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - Friday morning's explosion on the Zagreb city authorities parking lot was cause by a bomb of an unknown origin, planted in a container, head of the Zagreb police Ranko Ostojic told reported on the scene. Nobody was injured and five cars were damaged in the explosion, Ostojic said and added that an investigation judge would report details after the investigation. He stressed the police took all necessary measures to solve the case. He did not, however, want to make a connection between this explosion and the one which took place at Zagreb's central cemetery of Mirogoj in early February and yesterday's incident in the Croatian Homeland Defence War Veterans' Ministry where a war veteran threatened to activate hand granades. According to Zagreb mayor Milan Bandic, the most important thing is that nobody was injured in the explosion. He, however, did not want to comment on whether the planting of the explosion aimed at intimidating the city authorities. He said there was a message behind the act, as well as there was one behind the planting of an explosive device at the cemetery. Police and legal institutions will put an end to terrorism of all kind, Bandic said, expressing a belief that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. (hina) it
