BELGRADE, March 9 (Hina) - According to both Kosovo Albanian and Serbian sources, heavy fighting is going on in the south of Serbia. Armed ethnic Albanians and Yugoslav army and police troops are conducting fierce clashes around the
villages of Lucani, Marovac and Stara Banja. According to the Serbian police sources, the fiercest clash since last September took place at the separation line on Thursday night. Serbian local leaders informed the command of NATO-led international peace force (KFOR), deployed in Kosovo, that "Albanian extremists are continuously attacking the Serbian police." In the meantime KFOR officials contacted armed Albanians, who were quoted by a Beta radio station as saying that Serbs used "Albanian villagers in Lucani as a human shield."
